BIOGRAPHY

Hisa Arai was born in Gero, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, on 10 September 1904.

At the age of 100, she lived in Osakacho Oshima in Gero.

Arai was confirmed as Gifu’s oldest living resident in September 2014, as the previous titleholder, Teru Kobayashi, went into limbo.

Arai died of natural causes in Gero City, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, on 4 May 2018, at the age of 113 years, 236 days.

RECOGNITION

Her age was verified by Japan’s MHLW and Tzen Wei Tseng, and validated by the GRG on 3 December 2015.
