Hildebrando Ibañez Reynaga was a Peruvian supercentenarian.
Hildebrando Ibañez Reynaga was born in San Jerónimo District, Andahuaylas Province, Apurímac, Peru, on 10 July 1908. He was the third of nine children born to Leandro Ibañez Altamirano and Inés Reynaga Ascue. He completed his primary education at the Primary School for Boys in Andahuaylas, now known as Educational Center No. 55005, “Divino Maestro.” For his secondary education, he attended the Miguel Grau school in Abancay, where he was classmates with notable figures of the time, including the distinguished Andahuaylas writer José Marías Arguedas Altamirano.
At the age of 21, he was elected Mayor of the district of San Jerónimo. He also served as Governor, Judge, and Subprefect in various provinces within the department of Apurímac.
At some point, he got married. He had a total of 15 children, and by his 110th birthday in 2018, his family had grown to include 51 grandchildren and more than 41 great-grandchildren.
In his free time, he became one of the most renowned breeders of fighting roosters in the province of Andahuaylas and the region, earning awards in various championships for his skill and dedication. He was also known for his love of fine horses and thoroughbred dogs, which he kept at home.
Hildebrando Ibañez Reynaga passed away in Lima, on 12 September 2019, at the age of 111 years, 64 days.
