Hilda Jackson was a British supercentenarian. Her age has been validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO).
Hilda Jackson was born on Tamworth Street in Oldham, Greater Manchester, England, on 19 August 1903. Her parents were William, a butcher, and Eleanor, a dressmaker. She had two sisters, Ada and Elsie, and worked as the head telephonist for Platt Bros., the world’s largest textile machine engineering company.
In 1937, after a ten-year engagement, she married Herbert Jackson, a maintenance engineer, at St. John’s Church in Werneth. The couple made their home on Harrow Road in Werneth and had one son, Peter. Hilda and Herbert were later blessed with three grandchildren, followed by three great-granddaughters and a great-grandson.
Herbert passed away in 1972, and in 2004 the family suffered another loss when their son Peter died of a heart attack. Hilda continued to live independently at the family home on Harrow Avenue until the age of 102. After a fall, she moved to Werneth Lodge Nursing Home in Oldham.
Hilda Jackson passed away in Oldham, on 4 August 2014, at the age of 110 years, 350 days.
Jackson’s age was verified by Chris Law and validated by the ESO on 5 March 2020.
