Hersilia Moores (née Barrett) is a Canadian supercentenarian.

BIOGRAPHY

Hersilia Moores was born in Bay Roberts, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, on 22 November 1915. She was the youngest of four children. Her mother and sister passed away in the 1980s, while her brothers and father died at much younger ages. Her father had worked as a wireless radio operator for the Marconi Company, and when she was six, the family moved to Labrador, settling near the Point Amour lighthouse.

She later married a teacher, Murray Moores. Together, they lived and taught in several communities around the province, including Bonavista and Little Bay Islands, before eventually settling in Brigus after Murray retired as principal of Brigus Academy. They had two sons, Wallace—who died in 2012—and Lorne Moores. At 65, she earned her driver’s license and continued driving until she was 94.
