Dr. Helga Helene Elsa Doerk (née Schluet) was an Austrian-born German supercentenarian. Her age has been validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO).
Helga Doerk was born in Villach, Carinthia, Austria, on 8 February 1908. She attended elementary school in Vienna and, in 1925, moved to Graz, where she earned her high school diploma and pursued studies in philosophy, German, and English. Her dissertation focused on the Legend of the Flying Dutchman. After completing her studies, she began working as a teacher.
In 1940, she married Dr. Wilhelm Doert, and eight years later, their daughter, Gundel, was born. As a mother, she remained true to her life motto: “Don’t take yourself too seriously, be there for others, and be grateful for what you have.”
Helga Doerk passed away in Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, on 2 October 2018, at the age of 110 years, 236 days.
Doerk’s age was validated by the ESO on 18 February 2020.
