In August 2019, she celebrated her 110th birthday, becoming the first person to reach the age of 110 in the U.S. state of Montana in nearly 13 years (the last one being Walter Breuning, who turned 110 in September 2006).
On 24 May 2021, at the age of 111 years, 283 days, she surpassed the final age of Emma Taylor (1891–2003), thus becoming the oldest known person ever born in Montana. At the age of 111, she likely assumed the title of the oldest woman to have ever lived in Montana.
At the time of death, she was the oldest living person in Montana. She was succeeded by Kathryn Shelley, who subsequently surpassed her final age and went on to become Montana’s oldest woman in history.
