Hattie Pruitt is an American supercentenarian.

BIOGRAPHY

Hattie Pruitt was born in Mississippi, on 5 August 1915. She moved to Berkeley, California, in the 1930s and worked as a welder at the Richmond Shipyards during the early 1940s.

When asked about the secret to her long life, she credited kindness, saying, “You don’t get nowhere being nasty to people, I didn’t know nothing else but be nice.” Her grandson, Mark Barnes, added that she remained healthy throughout her life, noting that she ate fruits and vegetables every day.
