BIOGRAPHY

Haruko Morishita was born in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, on 18 February 1909. At the age of 32, she married Kenzo, who ran a clothing store in Takahashi Town, Okayama Prefecture. The couple had one daughter. A hard worker from a young age, she was active in growing vegetables in her own fields until her 80s.

She expressed her gratitude to the mayor and to the staff who took care of her daily. Regarding the secret to her longevity, her nephew’s daughter and family representative mentioned that Morishita’s love of meat may have been a factor.
