Haru Iwakawa (Japanese: 岩川ハル) was a Japanese supercentenarian.

BIOGRAPHY

Haru Iwakawa was born in Japan on 4 June 1907. She lived in Yakushima-cho, Kagoshima Prefecture, and was blessed with children and grandchildren.

In 2013, at the age of 106, she was recognized as the oldest person in Yakushima-cho. At the time, she resided in a nursing home and used a wheelchair, but her posture remained straight, and she was in good health.

Iwakawa passed away on 6 December 2017 at the age of 110 years and 185 days.

RECOGNITION

At the time of her passing, she was the fourth-oldest living person in Kagoshima Prefecture, behind Nabi Tajima, Tane Yonekura, and Kikue Tanaka.

Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Ryohei Asano, and validated by LongeviQuest on 5 December 2024.
