BIOGRAPHY

Goyo Hirose was born on 8 November 1901, in Japan and spent much of her life in Kinkai-cho, Nagasaki Prefecture.

By the time she turned 100, Hirose had moved into a care home but remained active and self-reliant, enjoying tasks like folding laundry and cleaning.

Hirose passed away on 4 April 2012, at the age of 110 years and 148 days.

RECOGNITION

In 2010, at the age of 108, Hirose was recognized as the oldest person in Nagasaki City. In both September 2010 and September 2011, she was acknowledged as the second-oldest person in Nagasaki Prefecture.

At the time of her death, she was the second-oldest person in Nagasaki Prefecture, following Yoshino Tanaka of Shimabara City.

Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Ryohei Asano, and validated by LongeviQuest on 30 December 2024.
