BIOGRAPHY

Pistidda was born in Sassari, Sardinia, on 23 January 1908. She was married twice and had three children.

As a centenarian, Pistidda was described as “sweet and tenacious”, frequently offering advice and never having negative words for anyone. She received flowers from the town mayor, Mario Bruno, on many birthdays, including her 109th and 110th.

Pistidda died in a residential care facility in Alghero, Sardinia, on 2 June 2018 at the age of 110 years, 130 days. She was survived by her three children, as well as 18 grandchildren.

RECOGNITION

Pistidda was photographed by Daniela Zedda, a photographer undertaking a project focusing on centenarians of Sardinia.

Following the 18 September 2017 death of Valerio Piroddi, Pistidda became Sardinia’s oldest resident. Upon her death, she was the 12th-oldest living person in Italy.

Pistidda’s age was verified by Paolo Scarabaggio and validated by the ESO on 8 August 2021.
