Gertrude Lemire Gagnon is a Canadian supercentenarian.
BIOGRAPHY
Gertrude Lemire Gagnon was born close to Ascot, in the Sherbrooke area in Quebec, Canada, on 2 September 1916, to parents Emmanuel Lemire (1885–1970) and Corinne Boisvert. She had at least six siblings, including Dolorès (b. 1918), Noëlla-Patricia (1920–2017), Paul (1922–2002), Robert, and Raymond. When she reached adulthood, she began working and later moved to Sherbrooke. She initially worked as a teacher before joining a telephone company.
On 28 May 1938, at 21, she married Roland Gagnon, and the couple had five children.
On her 110th birthday, she received certificates commemorating the occasion from Prime Minister Mark Carney, Sherbrooke Mayor Marie-Claude Bibeau, and Saint-François MNA Geneviève Hébert. At the time, her daughter said that her mother could no longer walk and had difficulty hearing, which limited the activities she was able to enjoy.
