Gertrude Faillaci

BIOGRAPHY

Gertrude Faillaci was born in Westchester County, New York, on 27 March 1911. She left high school to work in her brother’s dry-cleaning shop, where she took care of the sewing. After marrying her husband John, the couple ran a restaurant business and had two children. She was a lover of opera, a self-taught pianist, and an avid traveler.

In November 2017, she survived a devastating fire at the facility that claimed the lives of four residents. Despite the tragedy, she demonstrated remarkable resilience.

Faillaci attributed her longevity to healthy living, a routine of “early to bed, early to rise,” and a positive outlook on life. She was the grandmother of four and the great-grandmother of five.

Gertrude Faillaci passed away in West Chester, Chester County, Pennsylvania, USA, on 18 December 2021, at the age of 110 years, 266 days.
