Rachel Germaine Thérèse Martin (née Berton) was a French supercentenarian. Her age has been validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO).

BIOGRAPHY

Germaine Martin was born in the commune of Bussac-sur-Charente in the Charente-Maritime department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in southwestern France, on 25 October 1904. She married Camille Martin on 9 June 1925, while he was employed by the SNCF. She lived in Niort for many years, often caring for neighbors’ children in exchange for mutual help and services.

On 17 November 1999, she moved to the Mougon nursing home, where she spent the remainder of her life.

Germaine Martin passed away in the commune of Mougon in the Deux-Sèvres department, on 26 November 2015, at the age of 111 years, 32 days.

RECOGNITION

Martin’s age was verified by Cyril Depoudent and Martin Miet, and was validated by the ESO on 3 March 2021.
