Georgia Everett (née Craighead) was a validated American supercentenarian.

BIOGRAPHY

Everett was born on a farm in Bedford County, Virginia, USA, on 19 November 1905, to parents William Tasby Craighead (1869–1952) and Ollie Belle Davis (1879–1975). She had five siblings: Willie Belle Braxton (1902–2009), Howard Craighead, Mamie Everett (1909–2012), Warner James Craighead (1912–1964), Thelma Davis (1917– 2023). After finishing school, and before getting married, she taught at the Chestnut Grove School for one year and worked on her father’s farm.

At some point, she married Mannie David Everett, and they remained married for nearly 64 years until his passing. Together, they had three children: Goldie Britt, Curtis Everett, and Myrtle Frank. Her younger sister, Mamie, married Mannie’s brother. In the late 1930s, the family moved to Lynchburg.

Three of her sisters lived to be centenarians: Willie Braxton passed away at the age of 106, Mamie Everett at 103, and Thelma Davis at 105.

Everett attended Altha Grove Baptist Church regularly until her health prevented her from doing so. She sang in the Senior Choir, served as the secretary of the Sanctuary Ministry for many years, and attended Sunday School as often as her health allowed.

Everett passed away at her home in Lynchburg, Virginia, USA, on 5 December 2016, at the age of 111 years, 16 days. She was survived by her three children, 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren, as well as one younger sister, Thelma Davis.
