Geneva Moore was born in Newellton, Louisiana, on 15 August 1915. She was born to Ezekiel Moore, Sr. and Henrietta Needham. In 1930, she became a resident of Shreveport. She graduated from Central Colored High School in Shreveport, earning her high school diploma, and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She later earned a master’s degree from Howard University in Washington, D.C. Her religious education was nurtured at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church and Lakeside Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Reverend Amos Terrell.
Moore dedicated 31 years of service as an educator in the Caddo Parish School District before retiring in May 1972. Beyond her teaching career, she was deeply engaged in civic, national, and local organizations, including the 13th District Missionary Baptist Association, the National Baptist State Convention, the National Council of Negro Women, the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa (Beta Alpha Chapter), 100 Women, the National Association of University Women, the Allendale YWCA, and many others.
On 8 August 2022, a joint celebration was held in Shreveport to honor two 107-year-old residents: Moore and Elvira Helaire-Davis, who was less than a month older than Moore and later also went on to become a supercentenarian.
Her age was verified by Eli Logan, and validated by LongeviQuest on 25 August 2025.
