Fuji Miyawaki (Japanese: 宮脇フヂ) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age has been validated by LongeviQuest.
Fuji Miyawaki was born in Japan on 10 April 1901, in Japan. She married and had five children, but her husband passed away when he was still young. Following his death, she raised her five children on her own while working as a farmer. Her eldest son recalled that while Fuji was a strict disciplinarian, she always respected her children’s opinions and desires.
By the age of 106, she was living in a nursing home. Although she used a wheelchair, she maintained a good appetite, especially enjoying sandwich bread with honey and strawberry jam. When recognized as the oldest resident in her city, she expressed her gratitude and even sang a song from her past.
Fuji Miyawaki passed away due to heart failure in a hospital in Kagoshima City, on 22 February 2012, at the age of 110 years, 318 days.
At the time of her death, she was the second-oldest living person in Kagoshima Prefecture, after Nabi Tajima.
Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Ryohei Asano, and validated by LongeviQuest on 15 September 2024.
