Frederick Lorenz Frazier was born in Mobile, Alabama, USA, on 27 January 1880. His father was born in present-day Germany, while his mother was born in Alabama to German parents.
In 1900, he moved to New York and worked as a marine examiner. He remained in New York until the 1930s, before he and his wife moved to New Orleans, Louisiana.
Frazier died in Mobile, Alabama, USA, on 14 June 1993, at the age of 113 years, 138 days. His sister Mildred (1892–1994) died 1 year after him at the age of 101.
On 16 October 1991, following the death of 112-year-old James Wiggins of Arkansas, USA, he became the world’s oldest living man, at the age of 110 years, 262 days.
In January 1993, he celebrated his 113th birthday, becoming the second man on record to reach 113, after Mathew Beard (1870–1985).
