Florence McKoy was an American supercentenarian.

BIOGRAPHY

Florence McKoy was born in North Carolina, USA, on 23 February 1903. She claimed to have been born in 1901; however, the earliest located document—the 1910 census—indicates that she was seven years old at the time. McKoy had one biological child but adopted several others, bringing them into her home and raising them as her own.

At the time of her 111th birthday in 2014, her granddaughters reported that McKoy was in excellent health. She lived independently in her own home until around the age of 101, after which she moved to Popular Heights Nursing Center.

According to her family, she consistently ate balanced meals and placed great importance on hygiene, always keeping herself and her surroundings very clean. Her family also attributed her longevity to her strong relationship with God.

Florence McKoy passed away in Elizabethtown, North Carolina, on 4 August 2014, at the age of 111 years, 162 days.
