BIOGRAPHY

Preston was born in Lorain, Ohio, USA, on 24 June 1908, to parents Hugo and Fern Kikstadt. She was among the third graduating class from Lakeview High School in 1926.

At some point, she married G. Herbert Preston (died in 1996). The couple had four sons: Herbert, James, Don, and Larry (who died in infancy). Throughout her life, she worked for Squire Music, crafting violin strings, in Lakeview High School’s cafeteria, and as a homemaker, raising her children.

Preston passed away in Battle Creek, Michigan, USA, on 4 November 2018, at the age of 110 years, 133 days. She was survived by two sons, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
