Ferdinise Nébolle was a French supercentenarian who was the first known person from France to reach the age of 110. Her age was verified by the members of Les Grands Centenaires Français.

BIOGRAPHY

Nébolle was born in Le Marin, Martinique, on 17 May 1855 as the daughter of Rosa Nébolle (1830 – 1905). She had at least six siblings. In 1875 and 1879, her two daughters, Louise and Marie, were born.

When she was six months old, her mother took her to Rivière-Salée, where they made their home. She spent most of her life in that town. Even in her later years, she vividly recalled the eruption of Mount Pelée in 1902.

Nébolle died in Martinique on 10 December 1965 at the age of 110 years, 207 days.

RECOGNITION

Following the death of Félicie Carrier, 107, on 8 March 1963, Nébolle, then aged 107, became France’s oldest resident. Upon her own death over three years later, the title passed to Georgette Jeanmaire (1857 – 1968).

Nébolle may have been the world’s oldest woman from the death of Elizabeth Kensley (12 May 1855 – 6 March 1965), with Narcissa Rickman (1855 – 1968) succeeding her after her death.

Her age was verified by Guillaume Legris (Les Grands Centenaires Français), and validated by LongeviQuest on 25 August 2025. The validation report was prepared by Marco Wikkerink.
