Evie Wooten (née Wilson; formerly Larrison) was an American supercentenarian.

BIOGRAPHY

Evie Wooten was born in Leon County, Texas, USA, on 19 January 1903 (claimed 1902). She was born to Dora Euphena Kay and Francis Claude Wilson. She was raised on one of the largest self-sustaining farms in East Texas, alongside her four brothers and one sister. Every member of the family was required to work daily to ensure the farm operated efficiently and profitably.

In 1919, Evie married Finis Larrison, Sr. Together they had four children: Claudia Blandine, Finis Franklin, Joe Wilson, and Jeff Evan. In the early 1930s, the family relocated to Phelps.

In 1937, Evie was appointed Postmaster of the Phelps Post Office. This was the only occasion on which she sought her father’s assistance after leaving the farm. Through his political connections at the time, he was able to help her secure the position. In addition to managing the post office, Evie opened the Larrison Grocery Store, which she operated successfully for 27 years. She raised her four children, all of whom went on to become successful in their own right.

In 1959, she married J. B. Wooten, who served as the Missouri Pacific Railway agent stationed in Phelps, Texas.

Evie Wooten passed away in Huntsville, Texas, on 3 April 2014. At the time of her passing, she had 16 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great-grandchildren.

RECOGNITION

Although she claimed to have been born in 1902, the earliest available document—a 1910 census record listing her as seven years old—more likely indicates a birth year of 1903.

Her age has not been validated.
