BIOGRAPHY

Thornton was born in Beaverton, Ontario County, Ontario, Canada, on 6 January 1889. She had six siblings: Eliza Oke, Belinda Turner, George St. John, May Corbett, Minnie May, and Benjamin St. John.

In 1919, she married William Robert Thornton (1885–1970). The couple had a son, Stanley (1923–1943).

Thornton passed away at Victoria Manor in Lindsay, Ontario, Canada, on 4 July 1999, at the age of 110 years, 179 days.
