Emmeline Frances Brice was a British supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in the U.K. in 2006. Her age has been validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG), the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO), and recognised by LongeviQuest.

BIOGRAPHY

Brice was born in Westminster, London, England on 26 June 1895. She worked as a cleaner in the House of Commons.

Brice died in a nursing home in Linslade, Bedfordshire, England on 26 July 2006 at the age of 111 years, 139 days.

RECOGNITION

Following the death of 112-year-old Judy Ingamells on 1 March 2006, Brice became the United Kingdom’s oldest resident. Upon her own death, the title was passed to Scotswoman Annie Knight, 111.

Brice’s age was verified by Guinness World Records, Ben Lowry, Robert Young, and Filipe Prista Lucas (GRG), as well as Dr. Andrew Holmes (ESO), and was validated by each organisation on 26 June 2006 and 7 May 2020 respectively.
