Emma Montgomery was born in Colquitt, Georgia, USA, on 8 December 1906, to parents Lulu Stanley and Henry Johnson. She had four sisters: Katie Melvin, Lula Moore, Minnie Lee, and Fannie Gilbert, and two brothers: Rev. Bob Johnson and Buddy Johnson. In her younger years, she loved sewing, cooking, and fishing. She also raised chickens and ducks.
She was married to Otto Montgomery, who passed away in 1986, and had one daughter, Betty Jean Melvin. She also helped raise two of her grandchildren, Calvin Davis and Linda Frenchwood. A devoted member of Mt. Zuma M.B. Church, she sang in the choir well into her 90s.
Emma lived independently until the age of 104, when she moved to Bainbridge Healthcare in April 2011. On her 107th birthday, it was reported that she was in good health, despite a hearing problem, and she continued to show her sense of humor and cheerful spirit. Emma enjoyed watching TV, particularly shows like NCIS and CSI.
Emma Montgomery passed away in Bainbridge, Georgia, USA, on 13 August 2017, at the age of 110 years, 248 days.
