Emilia Alvarez Anzardo was born in Cuba on 19 July 1908. At some point, she married Fransisico Jose Alvarez, and the couple had two children: Amada Avila, editor and co-founder of Avance Newspaper and former Union City UEZ coordinator, and Peter Alvarez. At some point, she moved to the United States.
Emilia Alvarez Anzardo passed away in Union City, New Jersey, on 7 January 2020, at the age of 111 years, 172 days.
