Cook was born in Buena Vista, Marion County, Georgia, USA, on 22 September 1914. At some point, she married and had ten children. She lost her husband in her 60s. As a centenarian, she had more than 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She worked at Phenix City Healthcare for many years.
When asked about the secret to her longevity, Cook said, “You got to be good and stay on the right side.”
Cook passed away in a small town called Motts, just outside of Smiths Station, Alabama, on 30 September 2024, at the age of 110 years, 8 days.
