BIOGRAPHY

Elizabeth Hanna was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom, on 4 April 1907. At some point, she relocated to Canada, where she married and later gave birth to her only son, Ralph, around 1939. She lived independently until the age of 102. Following a fall and injury, she moved into an assisted living center.

At 109, she was described as fiercely independent. By then, she communicated softly, often whispering or writing on a board to express herself. Her family attributed her long life to her deep love for the outdoors, her passion for reading, and the consistently positive attitude she maintained throughout her life.

Elizabeth Hanna passed away at Sunnycrest Nursing Home in Whitby, Ontario, Canada, on 16 July 2017, at the age of 110 years, 103 days.

RECOGNITION

Her age was verified by Stefan Maglov and Dr. Andrew Holmes, and validated on 2 December 2024.
