BIOGRAPHY

Elisabeth Rüterbories was born in Sülz (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, on 10 January 1915, as one of three siblings. After completing her education at a girls’ school, she trained as a dental assistant and worked in this profession for four years.

In 1939, she married Johann-Heinz Rüterbories, a soldier stationed in Bonn, and relocated with him to Endenich. Following the Second World War, the couple moved to Poppelsdorf, where her husband pursued a career as a teacher. In 1964, the family, now with seven children, built a home in Neukirchen (Rheinbach).

At the age of 110, it was reported that she enjoyed having warm meals for lunch, with smoked salmon, potatoes, and spinach being her favorites. She could still wash some of the dishes by hand. She enjoyed watching the news, cooking shows, or crime thrillers on TV. A devout Catholic, she maintained a passion for cooking and gardening.
