Elisabeth Marie Louise Collot (née Benoist) was a French supercentenarian. Her age has been validated by the the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO).
Elisabeth Collot was born in the commune of Andelot-Blancheville in the Haute-Marne department in the Grand Est region in northeastern France, on 21 June 1903. Her parents were Eugène Charles Benoist (1863–1937) and Jeanne Marie Angèle Garnier (1874–1925). Her father was a notary.
On 10 February 1925, she married Paul Joseph Collot (1901–1980) in Andelot-Blancheville. She moved to Isère after her marriage and never again left Échirolles, a suburb of Grenoble. There, in her later years, she lived with her son, Michel, in a single-story house built specifically for her on a large plot of land bordering the forest.
Élisabeth had six children, four of whom survived her. At the time of her passing, she also had 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She never smoked, rarely drank, and, according to her daughter, she enjoyed singing “old-fashioned songs” in the evenings. On her 110th birthday, she was said to be in excellent health. By her 113th birthday, however, her condition had declined significantly, and she spoke very little.
Elisabeth Collot passed away in the commune of Echirolles in the Isère department, southeastern France, at 1:15 p.m. on 4 September 2016, at the age of 113 years, 75 days.
On 1 July 2016, following the passing of Eudoxie Baboul, she became the Oldest Living Person in France. Upon her own passing, she was succeeded by Honorine Rondello.
Collot’s age was verified by Cyril Depoudent (Les Grands Centenaires Français) and validated by the ESO on 28 March 2020.
