Ei Suzuki (鈴木 ゑい) was born in Iwata City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, on 15 September 1915, and spent much of her life working in agriculture.
She lived with her eldest daughter until the age of 101, after which she moved into a nursing home. On her 108th birthday, she received a Chaju celebration from the city, which included a bouquet of gerbera flowers and a congratulatory message. When asked about the secret to her longevity, she replied that she enjoyed eating. At the time, she was reported to help staff fold towels and often read newspapers.
