Fletcher was born in New York City, New York, USA, on 8 September 1913, to parents Edward C. Rink and Ethel Tomlinson. She had two brothers, Robert and Edward T. (1916–2012). She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Hunter College in New York, followed by a Master of Science degree in Education, also from Hunter College.
On 10 August 1943, at the age of 29, she married John P. Fletcher. The couple went on to have three children: John P. Fletcher Jr., Meredith Fletcher, and Penny Fletcher Metz. She worked as a kindergarten teacher for 26 years in Beacon, New York. After retiring, she and her husband decided to move to Sarasota in 1982. In her retirement, she enjoyed various activities, including traveling, swimming, fishing with her husband, reading, playing cards, and showcasing her excellent skills as a seamstress. Additionally, she remained actively involved in her church, serving as an usher and greeter, and participating in the altar guild and Daughters of the King.
Fletcher passed away in Sarasota, Florida, USA, on 21 February 2024, at the age of 110 years, 166 days. She was survived by her three children, 4 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
