Dora Credle was born in Wilson, North Carolina, USA, on 21 July 1911, to William Samuel Barnes and Emma Mincey. She had six siblings, and her father served as a reverend at Wilson Memorial Church in Wilson, North Carolina. She graduated from Wilson High School.
Early in adulthood, she met her husband, Raymond Credle, while working as a domestic for a family in Goldsboro, North Carolina. She was the cook, and her husband worked as the chauffeur. In 1940, the family moved to Washington, D.C., when her husband secured a better job in the city. She became a homemaker, raising the couple’s five children. As of 2020, she had eight grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Dora Credle passed away in Washington, District of Columbia, USA, on 9 January 2022 at the age of 110 years, 172 days.
