Daisy Cammock-Bennett was a Jamaican supercentenarian.

BIOGRAPHY

Daisy Cammock-Bennett was born in Aenon Town, Clarendon, Jamaica, on 3 January 1903. She was the second of four children born to her parents, John and Elva Cammock. She was a member of the Anglican Church in her birthplace.

In her earlier years, she worked briefly as a housekeeper but spent most of her time at home or assisting her husband on the farm, where he was engaged in large-scale agriculture. She picked cocoa and also enjoyed serving as a hostess. She later moved to Carron Hall in St. Mary, where she met her husband, Ernis Bennett. They married in 1929, and the marriage lasted until his death in Sierra Leone in 1982.

She remained very active until the 1990s. Longevity was reportedly common in her family: her brother was still alive in his nineties as of 2008, and the family also claimed a grandaunt who lived to the age of 114. At 105, it was reported that she enjoyed fish and breadfruit, whether boiled or roasted. Her health was considered fairly good, and she did not suffer from diabetes or high blood pressure, experiencing only arthritis.

Daisy Cammock-Bennett passed away in Pembroke Hall, St. Andrew, Jamaica, on 10 June 2013, at the age of 110 years, 158 days.
