Cristina Paloscia was an Italian supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO). She was the oldest living person in Tuscany, Italy, at the time of her death.

BIOGRAPHY

Cristina Paloscia was born in Ortona, Abruzzo, Italy on 15 May 1912. Her father was a railway worker. She moved with her family to Florence in the late 1930s because the city was an university town.

She was a music lover passionate about classical music. When asked about the secret to her long life she said: “it is to eat like a bird and drink a glass of wine a day.”

In March 2021, at the age of 108, Paloscia got vaccinated against COVID-19, making her one of the oldest known people to receive the vaccine in Italy.

Paloscia died on 31 March 2025 in Florence, Tuscany, Italy, at the age of 112.

RECOGNITION

Her age was verified by Paolo Scarabaggio, and validated by the ESO on 19 September 2022.
