Colombe Benoît-Leclerc was a Canadian supercentenarian.

BIOGRAPHY

Colombe Benoît-Leclerc was born in Granby, Quebec, Canada, on 5 February 1903. Her parents were Samuel Benoit and Elisa Senez.

On 12 May 1945, at the age of 42, she married Rolland Leclerc in Mary, Queen of the World and St. James the Great Cathedral in Montreal. They were married for 36 years.

She worked in haute couture and as a hairstylist for Elizabeth Arden salons in Paris, as well as at the Holt Renfrew store in Montreal. She also pursued studies in philosophy and religion. She spent many years living with her husband in Guadalajara, Mexico, where she learned to speak Spanish in her 70s. An accomplished painter, she continued creating canvases until the age of 100.

Colombe Benoît-Leclerc passed away in Quebec City, Canada, on 14 January 2015, at the age of 111 years, 343 days.

RECOGNITION

Benoît-Leclerc’s age was verified by Mark Muir and Anson Davis, and was validated by the GRG on 18 April 2014.

On 22 November 2014, following the passing of Merle Barwis, she became the Oldest Living Person in Canada. Upon her own passing, she was succeeded by Orma Slack.
