Celestina Penabad García was a Spanish supercentenarian.
Celestina Penabad García was born in Muras, Galicia, Spain, on 2 August 1907. At some point, she married Juan Antonio Pardo Pernas, and the couple had at least two daughters, María Teresa and Olga Pardo Penabad.
At the age of 107, she was reported to be very lucid and in good spirits, enjoying conversations with her neighbors and taking walks. However, she admitted that her legs would get a little tired, so she had reduced the distance of her walks.
At 109, it was reported that she still returned every summer to Roupar (Xermade), where she had spent part of her childhood. In her later years, she lived in A Coruña with one of her daughters, Teresa. She and her sister, Olga, explained that their mother was drawn to the place where she had spent much of her life, having come from the neighboring municipality of Muras when she got married. At the time, her typical day consisted of waking up around eleven in the morning, having lunch around two in the afternoon, taking a nap, then getting up after five. She would spend a good amount of time in the garden behind the house and go to bed around eleven or twelve. She also still regularly looked through the newspaper and several magazines.
Celestina Penabad García passed away in Roupar, Lugo, Galicia, Spain, on 13 September 2018, at the age of 111 years, 42 days.
Her age has not been validated.
