BIOGRAPHY

Carmen Pacheco de Carrasco was born in Siquisique, Urdaneta Municipality, Lara, Venezuela on 26 November 1901, as the oldest of seven children of Rufo Socorro Pacheco Melendez and Benicia Angelica Rodriguez Salas. She lived her first years of life with her uncle Delfin Rodriguez, her aunt Elvira Salas Jimenez de Rodriguez, and her maternal grandmother, Maria del Rosario Salas de Rodriguez.

At some point, she moved to Aguada Grande, Urdaneta Municipality, Lara, and later to Urucure, Lara to live with her aunt, Sulpicia Rodriguez de Ollarves. After the death of her mother, her father took her to live in Baragua with her siblings.

On 21 July 1921, she married Eliseo Carrasco in Baragua. The couple had six children: Dario Jose, Victor Jose, Carmen Lourdes, Auxiliadora Lucia, Eliseo Jose, and Egilda Graciela. Her husband died on 3 June 1937. After her husband’s death, she raised the children on her own.

At the age of 109, she had five generations of descendents.

Pacheco de Carrasco died in Barquisimeto, Lara, Venezuela on 16 January 2013 at the age of 111 years, 51 days.

RECOGNITION

Her age was verified by Santiago García Medina and Stefan Maglov, and validated by the LAS on 1 May 2022. She was the first validated female supercentenarian from Venezuela, and second overall, after Juan Vicente Pérez Mora whose age was validated in 2021.
