Carmela Marchesano was an Italian supercentenarian.
Carmela Marchesano was born in Salerno, Campania, Italy, on 3 September 1915. She was the eldest of eight siblings. When one of her brothers became widowed, he entrusted her with the care of his very young children, who had lost their mother prematurely. For a time, she worked as a forewoman at the Lamberti umbrella factory.
She had four grandchildren—Antonello, Peppe, Maria, and Lucia—and later had 16 great-grandchildren.
According to her family, she reportedly followed no special diet or exercise regimen that could explain her remarkable longevity; her secret seemed to be a combination of iron will and deep love for her family. She remained lucid until she was around one hundred.
Carmela Marchesano passed away in Salerno, Campania, on 14 March 2026, at the age of 110 years, 192 days.
At the time of her passing, she was the second-oldest living person in the region of Campania, after Lucia Laura Sangenito.
Her age has not been validated.
