Biography

Playdon was born in the city of Birmingham, England, on 2 July 1904 as one of at least nine children born to Arthur and Florence Emily Playdon. She never married and had no children.

In her centenarian years, Playdon was described as “sprightly” and brooked no fuss over her age. On her 105th birthday, her nursing home was decorated and a small tea party held in her honour. Her niece, Ann Arlington, attended the celebrations.

Playdon died in Camberley, Surrey, England, at the age of 110 years, 151 days.
