BIOGRAPHY

Mumma was born at the home ranch in Bieber, California, USA, on 13 August 1891, as the ninth of 11 children born to parents William “Billy” Gerig (1847–1898) and Sarah Elizabeth “Sara” Carmichael (1855–1925).

In 1919, she married Roy Bird Mumma (1891–1951). They made their first home in Brewster, Washington, where she continued to live until her death. Together, they had three sons: Glen Delbert (1919–1996), Albert Ray (1921–2005), and Donald Charles (1924–1985), along with one daughter, Flora, who passed away at birth in 1928.

Her older sister, Millie Waters (1880–1980) died at 100, and her younger brother, Peter Edward (1893–1995), died at 102.

Mumma passed away in Brewster, Washington, USA, on 17 November 2001, at the age of 110 years, 96 days. She was survived by her son Albert, 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
