BIOGRAPHY

Bertha Edge was born in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, England, UK, on 2 May 1907. During the Second World War, she worked in an ammunition factory and was married to Levi Edge, a bricklayer. The couple had two children: Beryl and Gillian. She also had a passion for playing bowls.

Edge celebrated her 100th birthday with a cruise in the Mediterranean. As of 2017, her 91-year-old brother, Cyril Gillard, was still living. A former navy serviceman during the war, he was recently awarded the Legion d’Honneur medal by France for his service.

Bertha Edge passed away in Ellesmere Port, on 22 May 2017, at the age of 110 years, 20 days. She was survived by two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
