Beatrice Mabel Mann was a British-born Canadian supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO).
Mann was born in West Kennett, Wiltshire, England, UK, on 24 March 1892. She had two brothers and four sisters. Before getting married, she worked as a housekeeper for a time. In 1918, she married Herbert (Danny) Mann, and the couple had two children, Les Mann and Lee Hehr. After getting married, she devoted herself to being a homemaker. In 1947, the couple moved to Medicine Hat (Alberta). Her husband passed away on 8 December 1967, just a few weeks before their 50th wedding anniversary.
At the age of 99, she moved into Central Park Lodge. At 101, when asked about the secret to her longevity, she said she didn’t know, adding that she was never a smoker and rarely drank. By that time, her hearing and eyesight had deteriorated, making communication somewhat difficult. She remained in good health until the age of 105, when she broke her hip. A few years later, she experienced a minor stroke. At the time, her granddaughter said she believed her grandmother’s secret to longevity was her positive attitude and determination.
Mann passed away in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, on 2 July 2002, at the age of 110. She was survived by her two children, eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
Her age was verified by Dr. Andrew Holmes, A.K. (anonymous), and Jimmy Lindberg, and validated by the ESO on 4 September 2024.
