Barbara Isabella Quenda was an Italian supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the European Supercentenarian Organisation, and recognized by LongeviQuest.

BIOGRAPHY

Barbara Isabella Quenda was born in Almese, Piedmont, Italy, on 4 December 1915. She spent most of her life in Condove. She married Angelo Martoia, with whom she had a son Enrico in 1936. Her husband worked as a livestock dealer, while she ran a butcher shop—first in San Giorio and later in Condove, on Via Francesco Re. After retiring, she spent about twenty years on the Ligurian Riviera, remaining there until the age of 97 or 98, even after becoming a widow.

At 105, she was reported to be in excellent health and was cared for by her family. Although her eyesight had deteriorated somewhat, she still walked reasonably well. According to her family, she credited her longevity to garlic.

Quenda passed away on 11 April 2026 in Condove, Piedmont, Italy, at the age of 110 years, 128 days.

RECOGNITION

Her age was validated by Paolo Scarabaggio of the European Supercentenarian Organisation on 1 February 2026, and recognized by LongeviQuest on 14 February 2026.

On 17 February 2026, following the passing of 113-year-old Maria Carmela Ricci, she became the oldest living person in the region of Piedmont. Upon her own passing, she was succeeded by Pierina Tarantola (born 22 June 1916).
