Asa Yashiro [Japanese: 八代あさ] was a Japanese supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in Saitama Prefecture at the time of her death.
Asa Yashiro (八代あさ) was born in Kazo City, Saitama Prefecture, Japan, on August 8, 1888.
In her later years, she lived with her eldest son’s family of four, who operated a local bakery.
She reportedly enjoyed homemade bread, milk, and bananas every day without fail. Even at the age of 109, she remained vigorous enough to go up and down stairs, and she was described as being in good physical condition.
She passed away of natural causes at her home in Ōmiya City (now part of Saitama City), Saitama Prefecture, on December 5, 1998, at the age of 110 years and 118 days.
Her age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group on 7 March 2000.
