Antonia Pérez Hernández was born in Totana, Murcia, Spain on 24 September 1911. Eventually, she married and had five children: Antonio, Miguel, Ana, Eusebia, and Carmen. In 1952, the family moved to Sagunto in the Valencian Community, where her husband found work. After his death in the 1980s, Pérez Hernández devoted herself to caring for her expanding family, which included 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Although she briefly worked in an almond warehouse in her hometown, she spent most of her life as a homemaker, dedicating herself entirely to raising her children.
Pérez Hernández was honored by the Sagunto City Council in 2018 at the age of 106. Surrounded by family and friends, she received a plaque and a bouquet of flowers from the mayor, recognizing her as the oldest woman in the city. She continued to live in her home with the support of a caregiver.
Antonia Pérez Hernández passed away in Sagunto, Valencian Community, Spain, on 29 April 2022, at the age of 110 years, 217 days.
At the time of her passing, she was the second-oldest (known) living person in the Valencian Community, after Julia Bascuñana Herrada.
