Annita Bonandi-Azzini was an Italian supercentenarian.
BIOGRAPHY
Annita Bonandi was born in Casalmoro, Lombardy, Italy, on 12 May 1902.
After marrying at the age of 21, she moved to Milan. Following the death of her husband, Giovanbattista, at the age of 90, she suffered a stroke. Her doctors reportedly gave up hope of her recovery. However, her granddaughter later recalled that one day she told her she had heard a voice whispering, “You are healed.” From that point on, her condition steadily improved, and she eventually recovered. A deeply religious woman, she devoted much of her life to prayer, which her family believed gave her the strength to endure this difficult period.
Longevity ran in her family. Her sister, Iside, lived to the age of 102. When asked about the secret to her own long life, she replied, “The secret to happiness is doing things well. It’s the only way to face the passing of time with serenity.” She also remarked, “To reach my age, you need a good mother—and you must learn to be a good mother yourself.”
Annita Bonandi passed away in Pianoro, Emilia-Romagna, Italy, on 19 November 2012, at the age of 110 years, 191 days.
