BIOGRAPHY

Price was born in Cardiff, Wales’ capital city, on 12 January 1886 as the eldest of four children. She married James Price in 1911, and sewed her own wedding dress for the occasion.

In 1939, the couple moved to southwestern England, and Price’s husband was employed in a mill in Upper Cam, Gloucestershire. Price was widowed in 1953.

Price moved in with her daughter Ivy at the age of 81; she lived in Dundry, Somerset. Up until the age of 110, she had never set foot in a hospital, only doing so after suffering a fall and a resulting hairline fracture of the pelvis. She enjoyed playing the piano and sipping the occasional glass of Stout.

Price died on 26 December 1997 at the age of 111 years, 348 days.

RECOGNITION

At the time of her death, Price was the fourth-oldest living person in the U. K., the oldest living Welsh-born person, and the 15th oldest resident of the country in history.

Price’s age was verified by Roger Thatcher (GRG), as well as Dr. Andrew Holmes and Chris Law (ESO), and was validated by the latter organisation on 11 June 2020.
