BIOGRAPHY

Annie Nelson claims to have been born in Moruga, Trinidad and Tobago, on 13 January 1916. She grew up in the village of La Lune, near Moruga. At the age of 26, she got married, and went on to have eight children.

A deeply religious woman, she developed an interest in nursing at an early age but was unable to pursue it. Instead, she became a teacher at a school in Moruga, where she shared her expertise in needlework and cared for many young people in the community. In the 1970s, she remarried.

On her 106th birthday, in an interview with TTT News, she advised young people to “always try to have a close relationship with God, have good friends, and have good habits.”
