Keam was born in the neighbourhood of Byron in London, Ontario, Canada, on 10 December 1907, as the only child of Truman Ormond (1866–1931) and Alice Maude Madden (1872–1968).
In 1939, she married Milton Keam (1911–1983). The couple played a pivotal role in establishing Byron’s first library.
Following her husband’s passing, she lived independently until she was 101, when she moved into a nursing home. She was an active member of St. Anne’s Anglican Church.
Keam passed away in Delaware, Ontario, Canada, on 16 April 2018, at the age of 110 years, 127 days.
